H or Hydrogen as we know it in the elemental table is the most abundant element on earth, not to mention the universe's chemical contents consist of approximately 75% Hydrogen. It's present in clouds, all organic compounds, and in all living organisms. Hydrogen has the ability to react chemically with most other elements. Stars are overwhelmingly composed of hydrogen in its plasma state.
When most people think of hydrogen, they think of the first atom on the periodic table, the Hindenberg, and maybe even the hydrogen bomb, but there is much more to hydrogen. The hydrogen atom contains a single proton, around which orbits a single electron. It is also the world’s lightest, most abundant, and most explosive element. For these reasons hydrogen is the most useful due to it's underutilized explosive power.
Hydrogen is more powerful than gasoline. Liquid Hydrogen has a BTU (British Thermal Unit) of 60,000 per pound, gasoline only has a BTU of 18,000 per pound. Which means that hydrogen is not only lighter and more powerful but it can go further for its weight. Hydrogen is much more efficient, powerful and light-weight and now, readily available at the lowest price ever.
Hydrogen has thousands of practical uses around the home and industrially. Any internal combustion engine can be converted to run on hydrogen as a primary or secondary source. Hydrogen can supplement every fuel source currently used in the market and can be used without toxic fossil fuels. Hydrogen can be used as a cooking fuel, to heat your home, power your boat, and mow your lawn. Hydrogen can run your generator to produce electricity for your home. With the addition of a fuel cell, hydrogen can be turned back to electricity to run your computer, cell phone and your lights.
With the transition to hydrogen comes the “hydrogen economy,” a whole new industry and the supporting infrastructure must be developed. Creating new jobs for both the blue and white collared workers, thousands of permanent scientific and industrial jobs, building parts, manufacturing plants, selling equipment, and developing technology, not only in the US, but the rest of the world, which will provide a boom in the world’s economy.
Hydrogen can be produced form water, sewage, garbage, landfills, agricultural biomass, paper product waste and many other methods. Hydrogen is naturally produced by plants and is colorless, odorless tasteless and nontoxic. The most economical and environmentally friendly method of production is through electrolysis, from water that covers three quarters of the earth's surface.
The burning of fossil fuel creates pollution, which causes millions to suffer from lung, respiratory, and allergic reactions, and toxic poisoning. The extraction and transportation of fossil fuels contaminate our waterways and create metric tons of toxins. Hydrogen would eliminate all of these problems.
